BOXING - FUNDAMENTALS
who are they for?
The fundamentals boxing classes is for beginners who aim to progress through our performance pathway or those wanting to grasp the basics of boxing. These are technical classes involving technique drills, school boxing, and pad work .
WHAT IS INVOLVED
Beginners must develop a firm grasp of the basics:
Understanding stance, balance, & rotation
Straight arm & bent arm punches
Basic combinations with sound technique
Parallel/diagonal movement (with punches)
Understanding of 3 types of defence (hand, body & foot)
Phased attacks (2nd & 3rd attacks)
Switch attacks (head & body)
Become competent at holding pads
Progress assessment (intermediate tryouts) every 8-12 weeks
Hand wraps and a towel are required for this class. Please Pre book online through the MIND BODY app prior to coming and arrive 10 mins before each session.
